You’ll find many UNESCO-protected attractions such as the Roman Palace of Emperor Diocletian, but it is also the perfect starting point for sailing trips to the surrounding islands such as Hvar, Korcula, Brac etc. Also, worth visiting is Vrboska, Maslinica, Makarska or Milna.

This region has a mix of the best that Croatia has to offer with an exceptional beauty of waterfalls, mountains, forests and many beaches. The beautiful bays and cultural heritage-permeated islands are the ideal destination for a sailing holiday.

The climate is great, in the summer the wind is generally light in the morning and in the afternoon 5 to 20 knots. In the evening the wind will settle down. The waters off the coast of Hvar are a perfect blue color and a visit to the island brings you back to the 13th century with the beautifully preserved architecture. Be sure to visit Starigrad with a wealth of culture.. It is currently one of the trendiest resorts in the Adriatic sea, worth discovering if only to stay in the amazing harbor cafés.

If you are looking for peace and quiet, then the small island of Solta is where you should go, it’s a quiet island with mainly olive trees and vineyards. The coast has many coves and small harbors.

Next you can sail to the island of Vis, typical for this island are the wild herbs such as rosemary and sage which gives a great scent. On the West coast thru the harbor in Komiza, you can visit this charming town with Venetian-style houses from the 16th and 17th centuries.

Dubrovnik, historically, offers a wonderful amount of sights of which the city wall is known as a symbol world-wide. One of the many interesting islands in the area is Mljet, here you’ll find one of the seven national parks of Croatia. At the nearby Lokrum you can visit a beautiful botanical garden.
